I'm Julian Smith, a young filmmaker hailing from and based in Birmingham, for the last few years my main interest has always been picking up a camera and making films. I have always had a drive to document and tell stories through my perception and believe that filmmaking is a form of art that can perfectly balance the other arts with life as you tell your story though the cinematography, the sound, or the mise-en-scene which all has a very key and precise meaning to help move the story, controlling how you the viewer should feel, whether, happy, sad, scared, which is why I believe it is the greatest art form. Since I started my journey I have grew from making films in my bedroom to having them screened in cinemas around Birmingham. Alongside making films I also do freelance videography work on the side and have done many projects including music videos and adverts, something I enjoy doing just as much.

As I found myself to be skilled with a camera, I naturally ended up doing photography as well starting a project of mine named Brum Scrapbook which was designed to showcase life around Birmingham through the lens of my camera and detailing the lives of the cities many residents through the pictures I took. This project helps collide many different types of photography which I enjoy doing from, street to portraits to gigs, which in turn brings life and atmosphere when you view the collection together. Many of my photos are up to view across the site in their respective collections.
